"At some point, he must have cried himself to sleep last night. He grabbed a fistful of bedsheet and wiped his eyes." (Rosemarie Boll, The Second Trial. Page #110)
To describe Danny McMillan in one key characteristic, I would say he is Depressed. Some things I have learned about Danny is that he never smiles, he is always thinking the worst for things and he doesn't take care of himself. So far in this book all Danny has done is trudge around and wish things were better. I see this as a sign of someone being depressed. A prediction I made for Danny will be that he learns to accepts his surroundings and that nothing can be normal when your family goes through domestic violence. I think that Danny will eventually realize that his life has changed and he will make the best of what he can.
The song I chose to go with Danny's situation is "A Trophy Father's Trophy Son." by Sleeping With Sirens. I feel that this song had somewhat of a relation to how Danny lost his father, he doesn't understand how it happened and cannot grasp onto the fact that this is his new family life. Danny has a longing for things to be back to normal, with his Father in the picture.
