Blog Post #3: This book reminds me of...

The book I'm reading still is called The Second Trial by Rosemarie Boll. The big connection I made was when the main character's sister, Jennifer, was yelling at Danny for not understanding what she's gone through because he'd always been favourited. ""How would you know?! It was always Danny-boy this! Danny-boy that? Sports and fishing and all kinds of stuff, that's what you were doing. You didn't even notice me, I just got left behind!""(Jennifer, Page 107)
This part of the book reminds me of how many siblings I have, and that not all of us are all treated equally. In my family there are 7 children and there is always one kid who's favourited more than another. I can relate to what Jennifer was saying whenever one of my brothers or sisters are getting more attention or gets to do something that the rest of us don't.

The Second Trial by Rosemarie Boll

       I am currently reading a book called The Second Trial by Rosemarie Boll. So far in this book, The main character Danny McMillan, a thirteen year old boy, has had to face the trials of domestic violence filed against his abusive father from his stressed mother. He's had to hear his mother's statement, hearing all the beatings that his mother, Catherine, had taken from his father, Paul. Danny won't let himself believe that his father had done those terrible things, so he goes into denial. In this book, I'm at the part where Danny is finally told that he has to be moved and have his identity changed to protect his family from their father. Still not believing it happened, Danny is being stubborn and refuses to go.

       This book so far has been pretty decent. I thought that Danny was acting a little bit too immature for being 13 because he'd cry and honestly wouldn't give to the thought that his father could have done those things. I know that it would be hard to believe, but he's acting childish and it's sort of annoying for me to read. I also thought that the writing is really well and has lots of detail so I can understand and picture what was happening in my head as I was reading. This book is okay at the part I'm at, but I'd like for Danny to act more his age. I would recommend this book to anyone who is dealing with family problems and wants to know what could happen if things were to serious at home.

       I picked this quote because I though it to be true. When I read a book, I like to relate to the characters or what they have to go through. For example, if I were reading a book about a girl stuggling with appearance, I think that any girl could relate to it or would have gone through a time where they wanted to change. When you read a book and connect to what the author is saying, You know that the author or whoever they wrote the book about feels the same way that you do. Therefore you are not alone and there's a book to depend on and help you through a hard time.
